Methadone Maintenance Treatment Online Course

Fee: $450.00 for physicians, $350.00 for pharmacists and counsellors.

This program meets the accreditation criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been accredited for seven of their MAINPRO-C credits.

This seven-week interdisciplinary course teaches physicians, pharmacists and counsellors skills and guidelines for the safe management of clients receiving methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) for opioid dependence. The course includes a required written examination for physicians only.

At the end of this course, you will be able to

  • outline the fundamental concepts of methadone maintenance treatment (MMT)
  • explain methadone prescribing and dispensing issues
  • explain the stages of change model
  • apply motivational interviewing approaches and principles associated with MMT counselling
  • follow guidelines for urine drug screening and procedures for supervision of urine collection
  • describe special issues and trends in MMT.
