Strategic Training Program in Tobacco Use in Special Populations: Definition of Transdisciplinary

"Transdisciplinary research" means that investigators with different disciplinary backgrounds know enough about other perspectives (conceptually, methodologically, statistically, substantively) to be able to work as a Team to study a problem using shared perspectives informed by a range of disciplines." (Source - Tobacco Etiology Research Network (TERN), a transdisciplinary tobacco training program, chaired by Dr. R. Clayton, and funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.)
