Prevention & Management of Aggressive Behaviour for Residents
This PMAB training course provides Residents with skills in self-awareness, risk-assessment, de-escalation of self and Clients,
an understanding of team roles during a Code White, or other crisis situation, physical self-protection, and in the use of
Emergency Pinel restraints.
Learning Objectives:
- An understanding of best practice principles with de-escalating aggressive/violent patients or clients
- A practical knowledge of the Code White polices and procedures during a psychiatric emergency at CAMH
- Clarification of the specific roles and responsibilities of Residents at CAMH during Code White or psychiatric emergency situations
- An overview of approved self protections skills
- The ability to recognize approved physical control and restraining techniques used to manage violent clients
- Emergency Pinel mechanical restraints techniques
