Methadone Maintenance Treatment Workshop*

This workshop teaches physicians, nurses, pharmacists and counsellors skills and guidelines for effective and safe management
of clients receiving methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) for opioid dependence. This workshop includes expert presentations,
written material, case studies and group discussion. Physicians must complete a written examination as part of the course
requirement.
The workshop covers:
- opioid dependence and treatment
- fundamental concepts of MMT
- methadone prescribing and dispensing issues
- urine drug screens
- counselling methadone clients.
This program meets the accreditation criteria of The College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been accredited for 7
Mainpro-C credits.
This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of
The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, approved by the University of Toronto (7 credits).
The Continuing Education Office, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, designates this educational activity for a maximum
of 7 category 1 credits toward The AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that
he/she actually spent in the activity.
The workshop is approved for CACCF CEC hours.
The Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) has assigned 7 CEUs to the MMT workshop.
