Dr. Anh Dzung Le
Neurobiology of Alcohol Section Centre for Addiction and Mental Health 33 Russell Street Toronto, Ontario M5S 2S1 (416) 535-8501 ext. 6744 anh_le@camh.net
Dr. Anh Dzung Lê, is a Senior Scientist and Head of the Neurobiology of Alcohol Section in the Neuroscience Department. He is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Lê studies biological processes involved in the initiation and maintenance of alcohol dependences using preclinical animal models. He is investigating the neurochemical mechanisms underlying the effects of stress on relapses to alcohol. Dr. Lê is examining the interaction between Corticotropin Releasing Factor (CRF) and serotonin as well as the interaction between CRF and the noradrenergic system in stress-induced relapse to alcohol and drugs. Dr. Lê is also investigating the biological bases for the co-abuse of alcohol and nicotine, particularly how nicotine might strengthen alcohol dependence as about 80 percent of alcoholics are smokers.
