Knowledge Exchange
The Health Systems Research & Consulting Unit defines knowledge exchange as the process of engaging researchers, policy makers,
and health care decision-makers in the development and application of research knowledge to effect timely, relevant, evidence-based
decisions. In the course of conducting their research and consulting projects, Health Systems Research & Consulting Unit scientists
and associates routinely practice knowledge exchange, using strategies like stakeholder advisory committees and plain language
communication to ensure that the process and products of their work are both rigorous and relevant. Members of the Health
Systems Research & Consulting Unit are also involved in a collaborative program of research that focuses on the organizational
structures and conditions necessary to promote knowledge exchange.
Current functions of knowledge exchange activities by the Unit include:
- Internal functions - Health Systems Research & Consulting Unit to CAMH knowledge sharing.
- Outward facing functions - Health Systems Research & Consulting Unit to external groups (including, ministries, Canadian Centre
on Substance Abuse, Health Canada, Mental Health Commission of Canada, etc.).
- The Health Systems Research & Consulting Unit also houses the Ontario Mental Health and Addictions Knowledge Exchange Network
(OMHAKEN) developed to facilitate and encourage research results and information sharing to interested groups and the general
public. Please click here to view the OMHAKEN website.
