Education

The Health Systems Research & Consulting Unit provides undergraduate and graduate students who have an interest in addictions and/or mental health policy research an opportunity to gain research experience and skills in an inter-disciplinary environment through hands on experience. Our programs provide a unique applied experience. All of our Health Systems Research & Consulting Unit scientists have appointments with the University of Toronto and a Unit scientist supervises each trainee.  Our Unit is a site for the CIHR funded Research in Addictions and Mental Health Policy and Services (RAMHPS).

Our unique student programs include:

  • The specific content of each graduate student program is tailored to the needs and objectives of the trainee.
  • Classroom teaching by Unit scientists in various University Departments.
  • Fellowship program provides highly motivated PhD and MD graduates the opportunity for mentored training and collaboration.
  • Postdoctoral training focuses on developing and implementing an independent research project that examines some aspect of the delivery of mental health services or related questions of policy.
  • Summer studentship.
