The Health Systems Research and Consulting Unit (HSRCU) is focused on health services and policy research. For over 20 years, the HSRCU has provided research and consulting services to health services, government, and private organizations. 

Research

Supported by competitive grants, the work of the research team provides the information required by health care professionals and decision makers to promote and implement positive changes in our health care system. More specifically, the HSRCU plays an essential role in efforts to reform mental health and addictions services in Ontario. The work of the HSRCU is highly respected by government officials and policy makers, reflecting the value of the basic and applied research generated by social scientists as well as health services and policy researchers and other professionals. Consulting

The HSRCU’s consulting approach is research-based and attempts to apply the available research evidence of best/better practices to the problem at hand. We regularly convene multidisciplinary teams of senior consultants to undertake consulting projects. Read more...

Knowledge Exchange

The HSRCU has also developed considerable expertise in the area of knowledge transfer and exchange, emphasizing transformative research to keep research staff in touch with front-line service delivery issues and problems. Education

Finally, the HSRCU is committed to the training of future mental health service and policy researchers. To achieve this goal, the unit has developed education and training programs that provide promising undergraduate, graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows an opportunity to gain research experience and skills in an interdisciplinary environment, by working on projects in collaboration with Unit facility and other addictions and mental health systems stakeholders.
