CAMH Strategic Plan 2003-2006: From discovery to recovery: Transforming lives and promoting health
Introduction
The first Strategic Plan for the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), approved in 1999, guided CAMH through its
first years.
After a very comprehensive and exciting process that included advice from clients, families and a variety of stakeholders
locally, provincially, nationally and internationally, CAMH developed its 2003/2006 Strategic Plan. This plan maintained the
four key mandates at CAMH -- client-centred care, education, health promotion/prevention and research. It built on what we
learned in our early years and anticipated how we could make a difference for the people and communities we serve in the future.
Our 2003/2006 Strategic Plan also showed our desire to continue to fulfill our vision and mission by improving program and
service delivery, staying abreast of the rapidly changing health care environment, developing initiatives consistent with
our vision, building on opportunities in the environment, and valuing our staff and volunteers. The mission and vision statements
were updated to reflect CAMH's increased emphasis on health promotion and the determinants of health as an essential part
of our work, and focussed more clearly and actively on improving the lives of people and building healthy communities.
