Volunteer Resources at CAMH

The Volunteer Resources department at CAMH provides training and support for the volunteers that enrich and enhance many facets of CAMH's work. The skills and interests of each volunteer are matched with program requirements. Opportunities exist for day, evening or weekend work.

As of January 10, 2006, Volunteer Resources is operating out of the Queen Street site. This move has been undertaken so that we may focus on continuing to provide high quality customer service.

As a result, we will also be changing the way in which we deliver our service and will now have Volunteer Co-ordinators overseeing programs rather than sites.

  • Theresa Conforti will be the Co-ordinator, Volunteer Resources for Inpatient Programs, Room 2114, ext. 2995.
  • Jim Davey, Co-ordinator, Volunteer Resources for Community and Outpatient Programs, Room 1029, ext. 6238.
  • Norma McDowall, Co-ordinator, Volunteer Resources for Research and Special Populations, Room 1029, ext. 6010.
  • Lisa Pont, Co-ordinator, Telephone Support Line & Family Resource Centre, Room 2116, ext. 3074.

If you have any questions about these changes, please contact Christine Burych, Director of Volunteer Resources and Spiritual and Religious Care at 416 535‑8501 ext. 4053.

The Consumer/Survivor Information Resource Centre (CS Info Centre)

The CS Info Centre is an information resource centre providing assistance and referral to consumer/survivors in the GTA. All of our staff and volunteers are consumers of the mental health and/or addiction system. We offer this service through telephone, email, mail or face-to-face. We have literature, videos, books and information catalogues as well as access to the internet.

We also publish a Bulletin twice monthly. This is a ten page newsletter which contains information of relevance to consumer/survivors such as drug warnings, newsbytes, upcoming workshops and conferences, job postings and free and low cost things to do in the Toronto area.

The Bulletin also contains submissions from readers. We encourage readers to feel like the Bulletin is their own and to contribute to it. Subscriptions are free to anyone and it can either be mailed or emailed to those interested in receiving a copy. We also work with other organizations to advocate on behalf of consumer/survivors for the improvement of conditions and legislation with regards to mental health, employment choices and opportunities, disabilities, income support, etc.

The CS Info Centre is located at 252 College Street, 3rd Floor. Drop-in hours are 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and phone hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.
