Assumptions about pregnant women who smoke

- Pregnancy is a good thing and is therefore an opportunity for positive change.
- Expectant mothers know that tobacco is harmful to the fetus.
- The health of the fetus should be a strong enough motivation for the woman to quit.
- The pregnant woman’s partner will want her to quit smoking also.
- Helping pregnant women to quit smoking is no different from helping any smoker.
