Busy season ahead for Workman Arts
Spring has sprung and Workman Arts’ upcoming calendar of events is set to bloom.
Mask and Madness in Macbeth hits the stage April 21 at the Joseph Workman Theatre. The fascinating and macabre tale of Macbeth and the language of Shakespeare
are primarily imagistic and poetical in nature, which provides a rich and palatable form to experience the notion of madness
through the mask. Mask and Madness in Macbeth is a collaborative creation working with a selected team of artists, actors and members associated with Workman Arts.
CAMH and Workman Arts welcome the public to explore the historic wall surrounding the Queen Street site during Doors Open
Toronto 2008, May 24 and 25. Tours of the CAMH historic wall will be provided on the hour by Dr. Geoffrey Reaume.
June brings the run of Edward the Crazy Man a play for children about mental illness and homelessness. Edward might look different in his strange clothing made from
other people’s garbage, but 12-year-old Charlie learns that he is a real person with a family past, with abilities and problems,
and with the capacity to care for others. Special performances for school children are being organized.
The 9th Annual Being Scene Art Exhibition opens in the lobby of the CAMH Administration Building on June 25. This juried exhibition is displayed at CAMH's Queen Street,
College Street and Russell Street sites. Being Scene will showcase over 50 artists who receive services from CAMH.
