2007 Ontario Student Drug Use and Health Survey (OSDUHS) Media Resources

During the 2006-2007 school year, 6,323 Ontario students in grades 7 - 12 participated in CAMH’s Ontario Student Drug Use and Health Survey (OSDUHS), the longest running survey of its kind in Canada and the second longest in North America.

Celebrating its 30^th anniversary this year, OSDUHS provides a wealth of reliable, current information about the health behaviour, attitudes and beliefs of Ontario children and adolescents. The survey’s findings are widely used by health, education, and government officials in setting health priorities and facilitating preventative policies, programs and services that address youths' needs.

While alcohol, cannabis and other drug use among Ontario teens has remained stable or decreased, this year’s OSDUHS results indicate that the misuse of prescription opioid drugs may be a cause for concern.
