WOW!ing the Canadian Society for Training and Development

Mental Health and Addiction 101 tutorials win excellence award

CAMH’s series of free online tutorials, which challenge myths and common misconceptions about mental health and addiction, has WOW!ed the Canadian Society for Training and Development (CSTD).

CSTD, a not-for-profit membership association dedicated to the profession of training, workplace learning and human resources development, recognizes new and noteworthy training projects with the WOW! Awards. Mark Fernley accepted the award during the Canadian Awards for Training Excellence held in Toronto in October.

The CAMH team responsible for developing Mental Health and Addiction 101 receive their WOW! Awards. (L-R) Louise LaRocque, Anja Kessler, Jacqueline Waller-Vintar, Martha Ayim, Betty Dondertman, Mark Fernley, Nevin Coston.

The series has become an important resource for communities, families and workers across the country and around the world. Canada Post is using some of the modules in their employee training programs. CAMH’s Office of International Health used the tutorials in a training program in Sri Lanka.

“This series is really unprecedented; we keep hearing from more and more people about how useful they are. It’s great to know that the series is appreciated by front line clinicians and clients, and on top of that, it’s great to get recognition from a professional association known for its high standards of excellence,” says Betty Dondertman, Manager, Program Development.

Using the Mental Health and Addiction 101 tutorials is an excellent starting point to learn about mental health and addiction. With knowledge we have the power to eliminate stigma about mental health and addiction and transform lives.
