Volunteering at the Russell Street Site

The Russell Street Site, located at 33 Russell St. (College & Spadina), offers a unique opportunity to not only learn but to contribute to our multi-purpose facilities which include areas in: Research, Clinical, Concurrent Disorders, Community Work and Special Events.  We try to match the skills to the needs of programs.

A few examples of how one can become involved:

• Research Assistant - various research projects throughout the Russell St. site allow volunteers to use some of their skills through literature searches, interviews, data coding. The research skills level required for these positions require knowledge of research methodology and prior relevant experience.
• Research in Concurrent Disorders - Assist in conduction of structured interviews as part of pre-treatment, administer baseline computerized questionnaires.
• Clinical Treatment Support - Volunteers monitor assessment room and provide information necessary to the clients.
• Library Assistant - shelving and restocking books
• Social, Recreational, and Life Skills - gardening art & medication
• Withdrawal Management Centre/Social/Recreational & Life Skills -
  Helping prepare meal and provide social support to the client; art craft and movie evenings
• Special Projects and Activities - many programs require assistance throughout the year on a variety of projects, conference and special events.
• Families Working Together Project - (SPHP London Office) Volunteers Provide information and facilitate family activities
• Group Facilitator - Volunteers co-facilitate groups tailored to clients in various stages of substance use.
• Regent Park Focus Media Art Program - Volunteers that are interested in the Media
• Youth Advisory Committee - look at issues regarding youth.
