What are the requirements for being a volunteer at the Centre?

- You must be 19 years of age or over to apply.
- You must be able to make a minimum 1 year commitment.
If accepted as a volunteer you must complete an interview, have 2 professional references, mandatory training, a TB test and
a registration meeting where you will sign a confidentiality agreement
How do I become a Volunteer at the Centre?

- Read through the volunteer Program Descriptions. After selecting the program you would like to apply to, you must complete
the online application form. Please only apply to one program at a time and wait for a reply from the Coordinator before applying
to another program
- If you are considered a potential candidate, a Volunteer Coordinator will call you for an interview.
- Once interviewed, you will be screened (references checked) and if selected as a potential candidate the Coordinator will
schedule you to attend a mandatory training/orientation.
- If you complete training successfully you will have to complete a TB test and attend a registration/orientation to go over
the volunteer expectations and sign your confidentiality agreement
How long will the volunteer application process take? When can I start volunteering?
This depends on what your skills, interests and availability is and whether we have positions available that suit your application.
We hold onto applications for 1 year and contact volunteers when and if a suitable position becomes available.
Can I volunteer more than once a week in more than one position?
We prefer that you commit to one position once a week for a minimum of 6 months - 1 year before you explore other opportunities.
Can I work in whatever area I want?
Volunteers only work in areas where staffs have expressed a need for volunteer assistance and a staff member has agreed to
supervise the volunteer in their role.
I am a senior and retired. Can I volunteer?
Yes. We welcome volunteers over the age of 19.
Do I have to get a criminal reference check?
Yes. This is mandatory if you are volunteering with children/youth.
I am a post secondary student looking for a school placement can I get one at CAMH?
CAMH does offer student placements, but not through Volunteer Resources. For more information about student placements see
