Steps to becoming a volunteer at CAMH
Step 1
- Take a look at the different types of volunteer opportunities offered at CAMH and select the program you would like to apply
to. You can find an overview of the different Volunteer Programs here
- Once you decide on a program, you can submit a volunteer application online or pick one up at our volunteer resource offices.
- Please remember to apply to only one Volunteer Program. Failure to do so will result in delayed processing of your application.
Step 2
- Placements are based on a balance between staff and client needs and the volunteer’s motivations, abilities and interests.
- Potential volunteers will be interviewed after their reference check is completed, to determine general suitability, as well
as to identify a specific appropriate assignment. Coordinators will notify potential volunteers about the outcome of their
interview.
Step 3
- All volunteers must attend General Volunteer training prior to starting their placement
Step 4
- Volunteers complete a pre-placement health screening that includes a two step TB test
Step 5
- Volunteers attend a registration meeting where a confidentiality and service agreement are completed.
Step 6
- Volunteers complete an orientation to their placement area and then begin volunteering!
