Centralized Assessment, Triage and Support Program (CATS)
Since 2004, CAMH’s General Psychiatry Program has lead a planning process to develop itself into the Centralized Assessment,
Triage and Support (CATS) Program. This new program will continue to provide the services provided by the General Psychiatry
Program, however will offer enhanced:
- Client access to specialized emergency, assessment and short-term support services at CAMH
- Links to medical practitioners, mental health resources and ethno-cultural services in Ontario
- Service coordination, internal and external to CAMH, to ensure clients’ service needs are addressed efficiently
- Access to mental health services for diverse population
- Provide culturally competent psychiatric consultation and treatment
- Centralized Supports for all clinical programs
This new Program will be launched external to CAMH in 2008.
CATS Mission
CATS will improve the lives of those affected by substance use and mental health issues, by providing clinical and academic
leadership and excellence in access to services for clients and their social/community supports. CATS will provide integrated
triage, consultation, assessment and stabilization, through partnerships internal and external to CAMH.
CATS Vision
A community where coordinated access to comprehensive services is readily available to adults with mental health and substance
use issues.
