Family-Centered Care Initiative

The Community Support and Research Unit (CSRU), in partnership with the Family Council, is leading the Family-Centered Care Initiative with the goal of improving the care and support that CAMH provides to family members and working with families to improve the quality of life of clients.

This requires a centre-wide commitment to families and the development of a philosophy of care and support for families. This initiative focuses on three key areas related to families:

The attached framework (107 KB PDF) shows these three areas within the CAMH context and philosophy. The Community Research, Planning and Evaluation Team of CSRU has compiled a literature review of Best Practices for Family-Centered Care (108 KB PDF). You can also download a copy of "Caring Together: families as partners in the mental health and addiction system" (PDF, 381 KB).

For more information about the Family-Centred Care Initiative, contact CAMH's CSRU at (416) 535-8501, ext. 2068, or the Family Council, at extension 6490.
