Family Involvement in Client Care
The following are outcomes, created by family members and staff, that all clinical programs are striving towards in the area
of Family Involvement in Client Care.
Outcome 1:
Staff involve family members, as defined by the client, in all stages of care including assessment, treatment and discharge
decisions, and determinants of health (e.g. housing, income, employment supports, etc.) when appropriate and in a sensitive
manner. Please note that any involvement of family members requires the approval of the client.
Outcome 2:
Staff members have, and use, the necessary professional and social skills to involve family members.
Outcome 3:
Staff members are knowledgeable about consent issues and protocols for releasing information, and actively use this information
to involve families.
Outcome 4:
Staff members attempt to reconnect, and if necessary, seek reconciliation with family members.
