CSRU Apartment Subsidy Program

CSRU administers the Apartment Subsidy Program. The goal of this program is to provide independent housing for 50 clients of CAMH who do not have sufficient financial support to secure residences of their own in the private sector.  The apartments are located throughout the city of Toronto with a main focus on client suitability and preference. 

Criteria

The applicant:

• Must be homeless or at serious risk for homelessness (e.g., at risk due to discharge from CAMH), 
• Have a severe and persistent psychiatric illness,
• Be 16 years of age or older,  
• Be receiving ODSP; however, other income sources will be considered, 
• Have the ability to self-medicate appropriately and be willing to comply with his/her prescribed medication, 
• Have follow-up provided by a CAMH outpatient team for the duration of his/her stay in the program, and
• Not be actively abusing substances.
