Tenant Rights: Privacy

Your landlord can enter your apartment between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. only if you receive 24 hours written notice. There are a few situations when your landlord can enter your home without written notice. If you have an agreement with the landlord for cleaning services, or you are moving and the landlord is showing other people your apartment, then the landlord can come into your unit between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. A landlord can also come into your unit without written notice and at any time if there is an emergency, like a fire, or you choose to let them in.
