Safer Bars Coalition of Peel

Gary has worked with Peel Public Health Department to launch a Safer Bars Coalition for the Region of Peel. The steering committee has various stakeholders including owners and operators of licensed establishments, Ministry of Transportation, Peel Police, Peel Fire Department, AGCO (Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario) They have regular monthly meetings and their main objective is to influence change of an identified problem related to safer bars. This is an on going project that offers resources, workshops, training and policy development tools to its membership.

 

Safer Bars/Toronto Summit Group

Gary has recently joined the Toronto Safer Bars Group. The mandate of the Safer Bars/Toronto Summit Group is to develop and implement strategies to prevent alcohol and other drug related violence/issues and to improve the safety of patrons and staff in licensed establishments and the surrounding neighborhoods, across Toronto.

 

 

Beyond the Label

Gary is an active facilitator of Beyond the Label which is an educational workshop promoting awareness and understanding of the Impact of Stigma on People living with concurrent mental health and substance use problems.
