Malton Youth Initiative

In the fall of 2008 Malton Councillor Eve Adams presented notice of motions in both City and Regional Council meetings to launch a Youth Centre pilot project. A meeting of community agencies was held at Peel Region Offices on April 1, 2009 to determine support for the project. There was considerable support leading to the establishment of an interagency steering committee. Gary has been actively participating in the community consultations around this project which has been focusing on the creation of a vision and mission for the project.

 

Regional Diversity Roundtable 

The Regional Diversity Roundtable (RDR) was formed in 2005 to provide a mechanism for individuals from organizations and institutions to share information, resources, experiences and successes at one table. Recognizing the unique challenges in Peel region the RDR provides a forum to identify common needs and create resources and educational opportunities in response to those needs. Gary is an active member of the RDR contributing to both their communications and capacity building working groups. The RDR has been very active in the Peel Region promoting diversity and equity through workshops, newsletters; they have created a web site and also various training materials including:  Diversity in Action… Building Blocks of a Successful Diversity and Equity Program
