Antoine Derose - Addiction and Mental Health Planning
Antoine chairs the TEACH for Francophone Project Advisory Committee. The Projet TEACH pour les francophones is a collaboration between CAMH and Health Canada. The University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine as well as other professional
organizations have accredited both English and French versions of this program. Last year two Teach pour les francophones courses were provided resulting in 38 professionals from across the province completing this culturally adapted smoking cessation
counseling intervention. This past fall, 47 francophone health care professionals were registered and trained.
Cultural adaptation of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) Project
Antoine plays a leadership role in the Cultural Adaption of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) Project for the Spanish-speaking,
Black Anglophone Caribbean and Black Francophone Caribbean populations. As well, Antoine is the principal investigator for
the Francophone stream of the project. CBT is a type of psychotherapy that has proven effective for the treatment of depression.
The objective of this project is to culturally adapt CBT, an evidence-based treatment, to enhance tis effectiveness in meeting
the needs of immigrant populations..
