Angela Martella - Health Equity

Angela is involved in several community initiatives and committees that focus on health equity in mental health and addictions. She is part of the West Downtown, Local Immigration Partnership Project Management Committee and the Advisory Committee for the Journey to Promote Mental Health: A Training Series for Community Workers Serving Immigrants and Refugees. Angela also provides coordination for Asking the Right Questions 2 (ARQ2) training in the Toronto area.

 

Building Equitable Partnerships Toolkit

Angela is working with partner agencies to develop a toolkit on building equitable partnerships that is based on presentations, workshops and panels of the Building Equitable Partnerships Symposium 2008.

The toolkit will be a resource and reference tool for diverse organizations who are interested in developing effective equitable partnerships to improve services for culturally diverse and marginalized communities.

 

Young Women and Depression Prevention (VALIDITY)

Angela is a member of the Vibrant Action Looking into Depression in Today’s Young Women (VALIDITY) project team. The project has conducted participatory action research with young women regarding the factors that lead to depression and ultimately with the goal of developing resources, materials and strategies to address these factors. Iranian Stigma Project

Angela has worked with the Iranian Canadian Social Service Providers Network and other CAMH staff and departments to organize a community forum on mental health and addictions and to customize the Fundamentals of Addictions course for service providers working with the Iranian community and a complementary consultation model.
