Concurrent Disorders Coordinated Training Strategy

Marcia is currently chairing the Concurrent Disorders Coordinated Training Task Group in Champlain. The Task Group will be developing a 3 to 5 year coordinated training strategy that will inform and guide addiction and mental health providers in joint, coordinated and planned approaches to pro-actively respond to the continuum of concurrent disorders training priorities and needs in the Champlain LHIN area.. Concurrent Disorders and Housing

Marcia is currently leading ‘Under One Roof’, a one-day workshop for housing providers and support workers who serve or may serve tenants living with concurrent mental health and substance use problems. This workshop focuses on facts and myths, barriers to stable housing, policies and practices that can improve housing stability, addressing problematic behaviour and community resources.  Contact Marcia for more information.

 

Substance Use Prevention for Somali Youth

Marcia is currently working with community partners on a 3-year project funded by Health Canada’s Drug Strategy Community Initiatives Fund. The goals of this project are to provide culturally appropriate substance use education and prevention efforts that are geared to Somali children, youth and families in Ottawa; and to develop and share with community partners a model for effective collaboration..
