Profile
Mike DeVillaer initially joined the Addiction Research Foundation as a Program Consultant, and since 1999 has managed the
West Central Area of CAMH’s Provincial Services. He also chairs CAMH’s Tobacco Policy Group. Mike has a part time appointment
in the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University. In 1996, Mike was awarded the John C. Sibley Award for Excellence
in Health Sciences Research and Education by a Part-time Faculty Member. He is also currently a guest lecturer in the Department
of Psychology at York University. Mike’s career spans a wide variety of clinical, academic and community work, including community
needs assessment, psychometrics, program evaluation, system planning, professional development, public education, program
development, research, policy and advocacy, university curriculum development and teaching, as well as continuing medical
education, and faculty development. Mike has published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals including: Academic Medicine, Addiction, Canadian Journal of Public Health, Contemporary Drug Problems, and Evaluation and Program Planning, and has presented at national and international conferences.
