About CAMH

Human Neurochemical Pathology Laboratory

Head: Dr. Stephen Kish
During the period 1999 to 2000, the section focused primarily upon brain dopamine function in drug abuse and movement disorders, employing studies of autopsied and living (by Positron Emission Tomography, or PET) human brains. As part of drug abuse studies, the section is studying dopamine levels and dopamine receptors, which are affected by methamphetamine and GHB use, and altered serotonin levels in ecstasy users. Research into movement disorders includes Parkinson's disease, dopa-responsive dystonia and progressive supranuclear palsy.
