About CAMH

Schizophrenia Program

Through its 212 inpatient beds and 15 ambulatory services, the Schizophrenia Program provides care at all stages of the illness. Services include prevention, treatment for first episode psychosis, Medication Assessment Program for Schizophrenia (MAPS), monitoring and management of co-occurring metabolic problems, rehabilitation, and care for the severely and persistently mentally ill.

The Schizophrenia Program has a single referral form and centralized process. Referral forms are reviewed and sent to the appropriate service for assessment.

The Schizophrenia Program is part of the Peel Access to Specialty CAMH Program Agreement. Inpatient programs can be accessed based on the client's need for specialized services by Peel service providers including hospital staff or community services. The Peel Access Coordinator ensures the coordination of referrals, admissions, and discharges back to the Peel community.
