About CAMH

Community Treatment Order (CTO) Coordination

CTO Coordinators provide assistance to physicians and inpatient hospital teams to coordinate the process and development of community treatment orders (CTOs) for individuals being considered for a CTO.  The Coordinators, although employed through CAMH are located in mental health units in various Toronto hospitals and provide consultation to all parties involved to assist in the various aspects involved in the development of a Community Treatment Order.  Coordinators ensure the appropriate forms are completed, liaise with right’s advisors, and facilitate the development of a comprehensive community treatment plan based on an individual’s treatment and support needs once discharged from an inpatient hospital setting.  This may include making referrals for ongoing support services as part of the community treatment plan.  Individual’s eligible for this service would need to meet criteria for a CTO as detailed in the Mental Health Act.
