What is the Mood and Psychosis Early Intervention Clinic?
We are a hospital-based clinic that treats people with mood disorders who show signs of the early stages of psychosis.

The team includes psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, recreation staff, and art therapists.

The clinic is part of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Canada’s leading addiction and mental health treatment, teaching and research centre.

What is the focus of the clinic?
We focus on providing rapid service to avoid delay in treatment.  We:

• assess and manage first episode of psychosis in people with a mood disorder
• help clients and their families with the recovery process
• promote wellness
• prevent relapse.

What does the clinic offer?
Our service is tailored to each client’s needs, and includes:

• consultation
• outpatient care
• acute inpatient care
• referral and linkage to community services.

Our treatment approach is based on research evidence, and includes:

• education
• family support
• individual and group therapy
• case management
• medication management
• helping the person return to optimal functioning in all aspects of life.

We also provide access to specialized outreach services through partnership with the Mood and Psychosis Early Intervention team of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Toronto branch.

Who can be referred?
We serve youth and young adults, aged 16 years or older, who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis and a mood disorder.
