GPP/CATS Program - Inpatient Services

The General Psychiatric Unit (GPU) /Acute Care Unit (ACU) treatment team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, a recreation therapist, pharmacists, dieticians and program assistants.

We offer treatment in a supportive environment that respects diversity, focuses on harm reduction and is recovery-oriented

GPU/ACU offers the following services:

Treatment

You and your treatment team will work together to develop a unique treatment plan.

Primary nursing

Psychiatric nurses are available 24 hours a day. A primary nurse will work closely with you to co-ordinate your care, discuss your needs and goals and provide support.

Social work

A social worker will meet with you and your family to address your concerns and provide support

Recreation therapy

A recreation therapist provides a variety of leisure activities and resources. We encourage clients to take part in at least three group activities a week.

Medication management

Medication may be a part of your treatment while you are in hospital and even after you leave.

Referral Required: Yes, usually direct referral from the CAMH Emergency Service or other CAMH in-patient specialty program.
