Risks During Pregnancy

  • Inhalants and solvents may cause early labour.
  • They may also cause premature birth, which is associated with the baby having breathing problems and an underdeveloped respiratory tract, which may lead to an increased risk of infection.
  • Inhalants and solvents may also lead to difficulties with thinking (cognitive impairment) and behaviour problems.

Recommendations During Pregnancy

  • Do NOT Use.
  • Seek help/counselling about how to stop.

Risks During Breastfeeding 

  • Effects on the baby are unknown.

Recommendations During Breastfeeding

  • Do NOT Use.
  • If you are using inhalants, do not breastfeed.
  • Seek help/counselling about how to stop.
